Dine Like Jane Austen at a Regency Supper hosted by Caroline Jane Knight

Join us for an evening hosted by Caroline Jane Knight, fifth great niece of Jane Austen, and the last of Jane's nieces to grow up in Chawton House, home of Jane's brother, Edward Knight. This delicious meal will made using recipes from the Austen family cookbook and prepared by our very own chef, Jenny. The supper includes alcoholic and soft drinks suited to the era!

A Regency-style meal would have all the dishes (including the desserts) put on the table at the same time, with the guests serving themselves. The dishes would be placed to according to their content - meat in the middle with accompaniments at the sides and in the corners. Vegetables, fish or custard would never have been placed in the middle of the table.

Dress code is Regency finery or Black tie.

The Alton Maltings has its own free car park.

The creations that will be on offer have been made in a domestic kitchen and although all recommended guidelines have been observed it cannot be guaranteed that contamination by nuts etc. might not have happened.

It is recommended that if you have a allergy or food intolerance of any sort, this event might not be for you.
