Embroidery Workshop at Jane Austen's House
9:00am – 1:00pm
Details
Join Abigail Rose Creative for a special embroidery workshop inspired by Jane Austen’s House and the natural world Jane knew and loved.
The day will begin with an early-morning guided tour of the House, before it opens to visitors. As part of a small group, you’ll walk in Jane Austen’s footsteps and discover the House she knew and loved.
Then, as the site opens for the day, you’ll adjourn to the cosy Learning Centre situated in the museum garden, for a welcome cup of tea and a peaceful morning of embroidery.
Under the guidance of expert embroiderer Abigail Rose, you will embroider the beautiful Jane Austen’s House 250 logomark onto a beautiful, practical pouch to take home and treasure. Originally created by Pentagram, the design features imagery from Jane Austen’s House itself – from the vibrant green leaf from the Dining Room wallpaper to a Blush Noisette rose from the front of the House and an acorn and acorn leaf from the garden.
After your peaceful morning, you are welcome to stay to explore the House, or enjoy a peaceful afternoon relaxing in the garden.
All materials are provided and the workshop is suitable for beginners. You’ll be gently guided through each step, learning traditional embroidery techniques in a relaxed atmosphere – the perfect opportunity to slow down and stitch surrounded by literary history.
