April Report
Allhallows PC Report - April
Cross Park Infill - after a village wide consultation and online survey the results were reported to the March meeting of the parish council. The results were clear with 115 out of the 160 surveys submitted objecting strongly - the parish council had given a commitment to support that result and the work will not proceed to a formal investigation and proposal.
Cross Park - Additional facilities - the results of the consultation were less clear on the proposals from Turners Group to extend the Cross Park Pavilion and add further sporting facilities and create a formal footpath joining Cross Park to the Recreation Ground. This is subject to a planning application from Turners Group (owners of the Allhallows Park (Kingsmead)) to add an additional 81 chalets on their land being approved by Medway Council. Turners would provide c. £455,000 for the parish council to get the work done. That money could also be used as match funding for further grants to add even further facilities for all village residents and visitors to the area. At the moment the planning application has not gone 'live' on Medway Planning, but when it does there will be links from the parish council web site.
There has been further work at the Brimp Youth Centre, with internal decorating being carried out by Medway's Youth Offending Team. Further Health and Safety improvements have been identified for both the Brimp and the Cross Park Pavilion and quotes are being sought.
A replacement flooring solution is being sought, as a matter or urgency, for the Football Arena at the Brimp, so that it can be opened to public use. There are concerns about the safety of the current surface - which is hard plastic and can get very slippery when wet or cold - it has also worn in parts since it was installed due to use.
The parish council is in talks with the Cross Park Association (now a registered charity) to take on a formal license agreement to operate the site. The grounds mantainence contract will remain with the council.
From the 1st April, the contract for the maintenance of roadside hedges, the cutting of the grass at the Recreation Ground, Grass Verges and open areas on the estate, has been awarded to a new company at reduced cost. Performance of the contract will be monitored.
A grant of £1,500 was awarded to the Friends of All Saints Church towards the purchase of a mobile stage. This will also be available to other organisations in the village for both indoor and outdoor events.
The path and extension to the water supply at the Allotments has been completed.
The Annual Parish Meeting (also known as the Parish Assembly) will take place at the Cross Park Pavilion at 7:30pm on Wednesday April 25th. There will be reports from the parish council, local organisations, local Medway councillors and the latest stage of the Medway Local Plan with an emphasis on the implications for Allhallows and the Hoo Peninsula.
The parish council is fully committed to supporting the youth facilities, and continues to invest in the facilities. We would welcome additional sessions for the current age group and older youth. But the availability of adult volunteers to manage it is key, please contact the Clerk if you can help.
