After a defeat and a draw so far in the round robin stage of the Ambler Fuller trophy at Loddon Vale IBC, Oakley, on Saturday evening took on Old Basing Beavers and after 6 ends led 6-4. A score of 5 put Oakley firmly in the driving seat and after 12 ends the Club had a commanding 16-4 lead. Basing narrowly edged the remaining ends but the Oakley team of Bob Goodyear, Nigel Bechelet, Sean Lassman and Graham Tompkins ran out winners by 20 shots to 11. The win moves Oakley up to 4th in the table but with two of the teams above us only on shot difference, and 2 matches to play, there remains hope the club will qualify for the semi-finals.
