Thursday evening saw Oakley Ladies travel to Alton Social in the National Ladies Top Club Competition. With Social having available to them, 6 current Johns Trophy players, as opposed to Oakley which has no one in the current Johns team, Oakley were very much the underdogs but they were not overawed and put in a fine performance. Although Social won 3--1 had the close Fours game gone Oakley's way four more shots would have seen Oakley snatch an unexpected victory. Oakley scores: Claire Flannigan won 21-13; Shirley Ball and Laura Butler lost 14-20; Christine Williams, Val Ryan and Ruth Bown lost 11-17; Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon, Angie Rowe and Janie Vickers lost 16-17.

Thursday may have been disappointing but Saturday saw members of the team competing in the North Hampshire Women's Bowling Association Mcfauld Pairs event and the Club's congratulations go to Christine Williams and Val Ryan and Shirley Ball and Laura Butler who, after a long day on the green, both won their semi finals to ensure that the Final in September will be an all Oakley event.
