An update from Clr. Britton on the proposed hedge work 24/11/23.

"Regarding the hedge laying of the hedge at Village Hall. The hedge laying was started, but it was found that the hedge is completely overrun by Ivy and 90% of all the Hawthorne is dead so this has meant the hedge cannot be laid and needs to be either removed or replaced Discussions will be undertaken at the parish council and consultation made"

Village Christmas Tree Work

Christmas is coming and the Christmas tree is ordered!

The parish council has ordered the tree and is also ensuring you will see much more if it!

Traditionally the parish has placed a tree outside of the village hall and lit up its magic to celebrate this happy time of the year.

Children in the school have helped decorate it over the years and bring out its glory.

We all noticed last year however that the hedge running along the side of the hall was blocking the view. Over the years the hedge has grown a little too high.

From Friday 24th November, from around 10:30am onwards, work will be carried out to reduce its height and at the same time improve its health through traditional hedge laying practice.

Cllr Britton enjoys the traditional skill of hedge laying in his spare time and will, with willing, if not so skilled helpers from the council take the height of the existing hedge down to around 3 feet.

The Parish has worked with the Playing Field Committee, who have responsibility for the hedge, to enable this to happen.

Watch out for this activity over the next few days, many of you may be interested to see how traditional hedge laying works!

To support the implementation of the Parish Councils rewilding plan , Cllr Britton will be hedge laying regularly on Friday mornings around the parish so if you want to learn more have a chat with him this Friday at the village hall.
