Co-Option to Fill Casual Vacancies on the Council
Wilmington Parish Council
As there has been no call for elections to fill the Casual Vacancies the Council is looking to co-opt three Member to represent the following Wards -
- Birchwood
- Leyton Cross and
- Orange Tree
Any person interested in becoming a Wilmington Parish Councillor, who has not already expressed an interest, is invited to contact the Clerk for details or to obtain an Application Form by e-mailing clerk@wilmingtonkent-pc.gov.uk.
To be a Councillor is a rewarding, varied and interesting role and provides a chance to get more involved in the loccal community.
Applications must be submitted to the Clerk to the Council by Friday 23rd January 2026 and all 'qualifying' App,licants will be invited to attend the Meeting of the Council to be held at Oakfield Park Pavilion on Wednesday 4th February 2026 commencing at 7.00pm when the cooption of Members will be discussed.
To be considered an Applicant MUST meet at least ONE of the following criteria -
- on the relevant day (i.e. the date the Application Form is signed) and thereafter they continue to be on the electoral register for the parish OR
- during the whole twelve months before that day they have owned or tenated land or premises in the parish OR
- during the whole of the twelve month before that day either their principle or only place of work has been in the parish OR
- during the whole of the twelve months before that day they have resided in the parish or within 4.8km of it
Any person is entitled to attend a Meeting of the Parish Council so if you are considering applying to fill one of the Casual Vacancies why not come to the next Meeting of the Council is at Oakfield Park Pavilion on Wednesday 7th January 2026 commencing at 7.00pm
