There is just over a week left before applications close for the next cohort of police cadets.

The programme brings young people together to learn new skills and gain a unique insight into policing.

Open to anyone currently in year 11 and aged 15 or 16, the police cadets is a great opportunity to build confidence and make a meaningful contribution to local communities.

If successful in their application, they’ll get a chance to:

Support our officers at community and high-profile events

Assist with crime prevention initiatives and public engagement opportunities

Hear from insightful guest speakers

Attend unique team-building experiences and adventure days

Participate in social action activities helping to address local issues and support vulnerable members of the public

Take part in supervised test purchase operations

Join in major emergency training exercises and acting as casualties or witnesses in scenario-based training

While the programme is an amazing first step into a police-led career, the experiences and lessons to be gained can be applied to all industries and will be a fantastic addition on any CV.

The programme for new recruits starts in September this year and you have until 31 March to apply.

If you know someone who could be a good fit, whether a family member, neighbour, or a group of young people connected to your community, encourage them to consider applying.

More information and the application form can be found here: Police Cadets | West Mercia Police
