The Bloom Group of Norton In Hales’s entered into the RHS Heart of England competition in July this year.
It is with enormous pleasure that I can now tell you, after an awards ceremony at the Town Hall in Sutton Coldfield yesterday, the Group's Chairwoman accepted a gold medal on behalf of The Bloom Group, but more was to come.
The RHS judges awarded Norton In Hales the overall category winner trophy for the whole of the West Midlands, which includes Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.
The Heart of England In Bloom is one of 16 regional and national Britain in Bloom competitions around the UK. At its core, the RHS wishes to acknowledge and reward communities who are “instilling a sense of pride” into their public spaces by working together and recognising how a well organised group of volunteers can make such a difference to one’s overall well-being. By adapting to changing climactic conditions, switching to peat free compost and promoting sustainable planting, all these elements are taken into consideration when being judged.
It has exceeded the Group's wildest expectations and they are totally thrilled. Very well done to all of those involved!
