Eastleigh Borough Council met last night to consider the GE planning application for 148 houses at the GE Hamble site. The Committee decided after hearing representations from the community and GE to defer the decision until a later date for further work to be carried out. Concerns were expressed at the meeting included:

  • pressures on local schools and health services,
  • junction at Kings Avenue and Coronation Parade(including the issue of delivery vehicles),
  • treatment of nitrates and other ecology issues,
  • level and type of affordable housing proposed, absence of a sustainable travel plan,
  • arrangements for replacement playing pitches within the local area and
  • concerns that with the level of contributions could make the scheme unviable in the future resulting in a change to the current scheme.

When a new date has been agreed we will publish it via the normal routes.
