At this news Councillor John Fox (Werrington Ward), a long time supporter of St George's wrote:

“Some very exceptionally good news for once, and that is the chance of a much improved Hydrotherapy facility coming back into the community for those who lost St. George's Hydrotherapy Pool, back in July 2022 and have been waiting far too long for a replacement.

The friends of St. Georges, hydrotherapy pool, Shabina Asad Qayyum, Mohammed Farooq, Officers from the council and ward councillors have been working in the background since the closure of a much needed facility.

Werrington Ward Councillors will be attending the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday to show our support for such a major project, that will not only benefit Werrington, it will benefit Peterborough and even further afield. If the recommendation is successful it will help so many people who have various disabilities and also may need specialist treatment.

I have so much to say regarding the sad closure of the much loved St. Georges pool facility and the way the users were treated by certain individuals.

However, I will reserve my comments until the appropriate time and place, not on Facebook.”
