Local Government Reorganisation consultation in Kent and Medway

Government ministers want councils in Kent and Medway to work in a different way.

Swapping smaller councils for fewer bigger unitary ones, to deliver all council services in an area, forms a huge part of their plan.

The Government has launched a consultation, based on a series of options suggested by Kent’s existing councils.

Responses to this consultation will inform the decision on which proposal, if any, to implement.

Have your say by completing the consultation at the link below by 11.59pm on Thursday 26 March 2026.

How to respond

You may respond by completing the online survey.

If you are responding in writing, please make it clear which proposal you are responding to. You can email your response to the questions in this consultation to lgrconsultationresponse@communities.gov.uk
