Nominations for inclusion on the Local Listing of Heritage Assets in West Berkshire.

I am pleased to advise that a further seven local heritage asserts have been submitted to the Local Planning Authority for consideration. I have enclosed a copy of the details of the seven nominations for your information. The nominations are:

  • The Luker Building, (Luker Court), Newbury
  • The Wormestall Building, (Wormestall Grange), Newbury
  • Parish Room/Club Room, Stanford Dingley
  • Water Pump, Stanford Dingley
  • John Morton’s Chapel, Upper Bucklebury
  • WW2 Air Raid Shelter, Upper Bucklebury
  • The Cemetery Chapel, Thatcham

The Local Listing process was approved at Full Council on 27th September 2012. The process is managed jointly by West Berkshire Council and West Berkshire Heritage Forum, whereby nominations for Local Listing are considered by the West Berkshire Heritage Forum and then submitted to West Berkshire Council for final consideration.

The public consultation on the eight nominations will begin on the 19th March 2026 and end at midnight on 30th April 2026. Full information can be found on atwww.westberks.gov.uk/locallist.

Final approval of heritage assets for the Local List is delegated to the Development Manager as per the Council's Constitution. If, following publication of the list of candidates for the Local List, we receive 10 or more letters of objection, or the Ward Member requests that the application for listing be 'called to committee', then the application for local listing will be determined by the appropriate Area Planning Committee.
