New Vice President of Bowls England from Herefordshire
For the first time in the history of Herefordshire bowls one of our own has been appointed Vice President of Bowls England.
Jennie Cole, from Hopesay, Shropshire, was appointed last week as one of four Vice Presidents of Bowls England.
Jennie will be in office for two years representing the West Region that includes Herefordshire plus Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
‘I am delighted to have been selected to represent Bowls England in the West Region and look forward to meeting as many bowlers as possible, hearing their views and encouraging people of all ages to consider this sport for themselves. Bowling is the one true sport that can be enjoyed by any age or ability.
England are looking forward to competing in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July and I wish them all the very best, it is such a very exciting time for bowls with the World Bowls coming to England in 2027.’
Jennie plays flat green bowls out of Brimfield and Little Hereford Bowling Club, near Ludlow, and has represented Herefordshire at the National Championships for over 25 years.
Anyone interested in taking up the sport can find their nearest bowling club on line by visiting the Bowls England website or Bowls Herefordshire.
