As you may be aware, Nether Wallop Parish Council is embarking on a project to upgrade the village pavilion, and improve recreational facilities. Upgrading the pavilion represents a fantastic opportunity to enrich community life, providing a modern, accessible space for a café and flexible community area.

We would like to provide you with a brief update on plans for the upgrade of the pavilion in Phase 1 of the project, request some firmer offers of support for volunteering at the café, and obtain further evidence of community support for our grant funding application from Test Valley Borough Council.

An architect has been engaged, and plans have been drawn up to take account of the results we received in the survey that was sent out last year. One very clear outcome that the survey showed was that a part-time café was a popular idea with 65.6% approval, and that many residents showed an interest in volunteering.

We instructed the architect to factor in an extension to the front of the pavilion to allow for a bigger kitchen, and space for tables and chairs for a café and multi-use area. The plans were agreed by the parish council, and the design below has now been submitted to Test Valley Council Planning Department for approval.

An incredible 41 people said they would be prepared to volunteer at the café, and if you are still interested, please let Cllr Lovatt know at Cllr.C.Lovatt@netherwallopparishcouncil.gov.uk. She is hoping to arrange a short meeting in the near future to discuss plans, and obtain feedback and ideas from potential volunteers.

Some of you have already signed the evidence of community support to help in our bid to secure funding from Test Valley Borough Council’s Community Asset Fund; but if you haven’t, please follow the link to register your support for Nether Wallop Parish Council's grant application and help make the pavilion upgrade a reality. Your input is a step towards enhancing our shared community space.
