Rescuing a Pregnant Lady from a Slug!
Soo's Fifty Firsts
Tonight I had a very funny evening with my "gangshow" girlfriends. We talked, laughed and ate all night long, and they also helped me add another 8 items to my almost full 50 firsts listing. It was quite interesting reflecting on what I had and hadn't done over the years, the list was bigger than I had remembered which made me feel I had achieved so much more than I had previously thought. For example, I had attended a wonderful wedding in Las Vegas for some lovely friends of Russ and I which included a helicopter flight over the hoover dam and a picnic in the grand canyon!, shooting a gun at a range (and nearly shooting Russ), as I didn't know it had live amunition in and it had jammed so I wanted him to help me fix it! aaargh! Another time I lassoed a horse whilst staying at a ranch in the Australian outback. Russ and I dived with Sharks in the Caribbean for his 40th and Manta Rays in the Maldives for my 40th! Skiing, horse riding, abseiling, canoeing, climbing a 50ft totem pool and jumping (but missing) the trapese, combined harvester and tractor driving - the list is quite extensive. Wow!, I am not as boring as I think I am coming up to my middle aged years!
Anyhow, after recalling similar stories to the ladies and adding to the listing the night had to end when the lady of the house (heavily pregnant at the time), spotted a slug on her conservatory roof. Emma, our tallest member in the room, grabbed some paper and I followed hovering below whilst she attacked the slug with the paper to release it from the roof. It did eventually come off, rolled down her paper and landed onto mine (result!), however, continued its journey rolling onto my chest and down my top leaving behind its slimy trail. I'm not one to worry about animals, (having lived with a six foot boa constrictor for 4.5 years) so continued to the garden, pausing only for an obligatory photo whilst uncontrolably laughing and detached the culprit of the slimy silvery trail from my chest depositing it into the garden! I had found another first to add to my list!
