Following a special inspection of Boraston Dale Bridge, it has been determined that an emergency closure of the bridge to all traffic is required on safety grounds. The structural integrity of the bridge is at risk after a tractor collided with the parapet and entered the watercourse.

An emergency road closure will be implemented at Boraston Dale Bridge today, and a diversion route will be established. The bridge spans the Corn Brook, a tributary of the River Teme.

The closure will remain in place while essential repairs are carried out to the downstream spandrel, wing wall, and parapet. To undertake these works safely, the bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic. We are currently working with our term contractor to resource the necessary repairs, and programmed dates will be confirmed shortly.

Pedestrian and dismounted cyclist access will be maintained, although short delays may occur during certain phases of the works. Access to properties up to the bridge will also be preserved throughout the closure.

We appreciate that this may cause disruption to the local community and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
