UPDATE

Further to the update sent, I am pleased to confirm that the repair to the leak on Oak Lane was completed overnight with no customer impact. We’ve already seen a positive impact on our water supplies thanks to this work.

Reinstatement of the road will be completed tomorrow. In the meantime, because of the location of the main, the road has had to be closed and a diversion put in place. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.

As part of our response to the ongoing water supply challenges in Kent, we have found a significant leak in Rainham on Oak Lane (ME9 7EZ). The supply area impacted by this leak is marked by the blue outline on the map.

We’re keen to get moving on a repair, so our crews have already started the dig down and customers may have noticed we’ve started work. We want to reassure customers in this area that there’s currently no additional risk of loss of supply because, once we isolate the area of the burst and start the repair, we can move water around our network to compensate and keep customers in supply. As a precaution, we are also moving a tanker into the area and identifying injection points to add extra water if needed, and have resources available to deliver bottled water to residents very quickly if we need to.

We currently expect the repair to be completed overnight tonight. We will contact you again when it is complete, or if we need to give you any significant updates.
