Sports Centre Re-Development: Park Access and Car Parking

On Monday 9th September, the builders compound will be put in place at Leicester Road Recreation Ground in anticipation of the start to the part demolition and building of the new sports centre.

This will mean that the current overflow car park, walkways directly around the sports centre and some parkland will become inaccessible. From this date, pedestrians will be able to access the main park areas via 2 routes;

1. A temporary walk way behind the swings on the children's play park, still accessible through the green gates on Leicester Road.

2. The Pathway that is currently between the artificial football pitch and bowls club. There will be a temporary path also extending this walkway to the current entrance of the sports centre.

These routes are shown by the green arrows on the drawing.

Throughout the build, car parking will be limited to the current marked out spaces that run alongside the artificial football pitch and down towards the bowls club. Where possible, we do suggest walking or cycling to the recreation ground, or if travelling by car, parking considerately on nearby streets.
