Aldborough and Thurgarton Parish Council
A vacancy for the Parish Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer role has arisen.
Aldborough and Thurgarton is a thriving community of around 600 diverse inhabitants. There is
a large registered Green which the Parish Council is responsible for managing.

Aldborough and Thurgaron Parish Council currently consists of 7 councilors and is an active
Council that enthusiastically engages in serving the local community. We are keen to find a well-
motivated, like-minded person to take on the post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible
Financial Officer (RFO).
The post is part-time, an average of 5 hours per week, working mainly from home, the hours of
work are flexible except for attendance at meetings which are held in Aldborough Community
Centre. Salary will be based on the National Association of Local Councils and Society of Local
Councils pay scale and is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The candidate must be IT literate, Word Processing and Excel, and must be available to attend
bi-monthly council meetings, in the evening, normally on the 1 st Monday of the month at 7.00pm.
Duties will include acting as advisor to the Council, minute taking, and compilation of
correspondence, filing, administration of the Parish Council website, and financial accounting as
the RFO for the Council. Receiving and paying of invoices and using on-line access to banking.

Prior relevant experience is an advantage but training in all aspects of local government
administration can be provided.
Local knowledge is an advantage as being a small community the majority of work is on local
issues.
Starting date to be agreed and allow for briefing and handover and transport of materials from
the current clerk.
