The Wells Community Shed (WCS) in the grounds of the Heads Up Mental Health and Well Being Charity in Upper Breach, South Horrington, Wells, was only made possible by a kind donation and support from the Masonic Charitable Foundation to provide an outlet beneficial to the Wells Community as a whole. The Shed implementation was also supported by the following:- Heads Up Trustees Management and Staff; The Wells Lions with donations and people support in providing two people experienced in community Organisations Start up, the Shed Founder Members and presentations and advice from Frome Men's Shed. The Wells Community Shed is affiliated to the United Kingdom Men's Shed Association (UKMSA), an organisation who support existing and encourage new Men's Sheds throughout the UK in an increasingly popular venture and all Sheds are Not For Profit organisations.

The objective was to provide a venue in the Heads Up grounds for Wells Community Shed Members to talk and connect with others while participating in-group or individual projects thus counter-acting loneliness, isolation and depression enabling a feeling of self worth. Therefore the WCS is complimentary to the outstanding work of Heads Up.

The  'Shed' provides opportunities for friendship and socialising in a safe environment while at the same time providing space, expertise and facilities for Wells Community Shed Members to pursue hobbies (mainly Woodwork), crafts and other creative activities. The Wells Shed Members will undertake various projects, acceptable to the Wells Community Shed and the Heads Up Charity, which are of benefit to Wells Community Shed Members, Heads Up, other groups and the broader community.

The Wells Community Shed was officially opened on Friday 12th October 2018 with many attending. See News on right-> or  on News Page.

The main theme of WCS is Furniture Repair and Restoration on quality furniture and in the future we will be branching out into other crafts such as Wood and Country Crafts, Stenciling, Stamping, Printing, Lino-cut Designs,  tin/copper work(small), embossing, Stained Glass, Decorating Glass, Ceramics and Mosaics - as examples. Please see our Projects Pages to see Work In Progress and History plus those Projects up for Donation on the Offers Page. You can choose a Project from the Work In Progress or the Offers page and send us your details from there and/or arrange an appointment to see your selection or just browse everything on a visit to our Shed. Alternatively you may have a family Heirloom or favourite for Repair and Restoration so again arrange an appointment and bring the item along to us. Other future objectives are to reach out into the Local Community plus work with other community groups in whatever way for mutual benefits.
