Platinum Jubilee 2022

Thursday 2nd June 2022

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Party at Abdon Village Hall

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Party was held on Thursday 2nd June 2022 from 2pm to 6pm at Abdon Village Hall. 89 people attended which was a great turnout! And there was plenty of sunshine!

The marquee was erected, and the Village Hall, garden and car park were decorated in Jubilee bunting, balloons, ribbons, table cloths and flags by a fantastic group of volunteers.

Entry was free and people brought their own picnic and drinks. A Jubilee cake, tea and coffee were provided.

Live music from the 50s to the noughties was provided by the Diamond Geezer.

There were two themes for those who wished to dress for the occasion: 1950s or Royal Ascot. We had a Jubilee hat parade for everyone to show off their creations, with prizes for the best decorated Jubilee hat (adult and child) and best Jubilee outfit.

Throughout the afternoon there were children’s games, a treasure hunt, a raffle and a memory table.

Finally we held a ceremony to unveil the plaque for the Queen's Green Canopy oak tree planting.
