A Report of last year's Tournament.

                                                              OPEN TRIPLES TOURNAMENT 2017.

Last Sunday, 26 June, Aldiss Park Bowls Club held their annual  Open Triples Tournament at the club green in the Aldiss Park complex on Norwich Road, Dereham.  With an entry of 17 teams, it was always going to be a busy day, but despite the downpours of the previous few days, the rain held off and the sun made a fair number of appearances, which allowed the tournament to comfortably progress without any delays. Competing teams came from Attleborough, Heacham, Shipdham, Swanton Morley and Whinburgh, as well a a number of teams from the host club.  The tournament format provided each team with a minimum of 5 games, so everybody had plenty of time on the green, but also adequate time between games to take advantage of the refreshments provided.
After lunch, and on completion of the outstanding group games, the four teams with the best results went forward to play off for the First, Second and Third place prizes.
The winning team, from the Heacham Bowling Club , was Sue Dainton, John Francis, and Jim Drake.     Runners up, from home team Aldiss Park, were Peter Henman, Mike Henman, and David West. The third placed team, also from Aldiss Park, was Lyn West, Lyn Bass, and Tony Bowman.
All the participants agreed it had been a very successful day, enjoyed by all, and when a few spots of rain were felt in the air as the presentations were being made, we could all afford to chuckle at our luck.
