Bells and Whistles - Friday 20 October: 7:30 pm

Come and enjoy what promises to be an interesting and entertaining evening at the Village Hall.  Kathleen Turner, who brought one of her barrel organs to our 2016 Gardens Open Day, will give a talk, with demonstrations, on  these rare and fascinating instruments.  The Shrewsbury Hand Bells will then entertain us with their wide-ranging repertoire, and some amusing pieces to send us on our way.

Tickets at £12.50, to include an arrival glass of wine or juice, are available from Martin Locke (210639 / 07914 728130) or Nick Hall (210353).

Ride+Stride - Saturday 9 September

What a day it was, the worst weather ever in over 20 years for the annual Shropshire Historic Churches Trust Ride and Stride!  However, despite the frequent heavy downpours three striders (Margaret and Martin Locke & Nick Hall) and one rider (Keith Ridland) set out to visit local churches to raise funds for the SHCT and St Mary's Church.  We are very grateful to all those who generously sponsored us, the result of which has resulted in our raising over £900 + an additional amount in Gift Aid.  A final total will be posted in the next update.  Many thanks to all our supporters.

Marquee event a great success!

It was most disappointing that we had to cancel the last fund-raiser planned for 22 April owing to a poor response.  However, Elwyn and Carol Jones came to the rescue with a very generous offer of the use on 14 May of the marquee erected at Ebrey Cottage for their daughter Rhianne's wedding.  With Chris and Babs Taylor’s assistance we had a fun night out, under canvas, enjoying some delicious food and wine, musical entertainment by Roger Hotchkiss and tambourine virtuoso, Edward Bedell, and some fiendishly difficult carpet skittles.  So grateful thanks go to our kind hosts, and the ladies of the Frankton Cricket Club for the catering, for an enjoyable and successful evening which raised £400 for church funds.
