The Cheshire Police and Crime Panel is seeking an independent member of the public to help scrutinise policing and the work of the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner until May 2028. Open to anyone who lives or works in Cheshire, the role involves attending around 10 to 12 meetings a year, contributing to key decisions on policing, community safety and governance, and working alongside elected councillors as a full voting member. The Panel welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly younger applicants aged 18 and over, and provides training, expenses and a small allowance.

The information you provide may be shared with members of the Police and Crime Panel and Officers from the four Cheshire local authorities (Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton and Warrington), the information will be treated as confidential, with addresses, phone numbers and any other sensitive information being redacted when appropriate. The information you provide will not be published without your permission.


The closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Tuesday 1st September. Interviews are likely to be held in Crewe in the early evening of Tuesday 15th September 2026, the Panel hopes to make the final decision on who to appoint at its meeting on Friday 18th September 2026.
