Bagworth Bowls Club has been in existence since approx. 1928 and in located behind the Bagworth Community Centre on Station Road, Bagworth. The club was originally set up as a miners sports club but is now open to people of any age, men and women, new or experience bowlers. Please enquire if you are interested! We are always looking for new bowlers to join.
Bagworth have annual fixtures against many clubs in the North West region of Leicestershire, playing friendly matches on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Members are welcome to practice anytime provided there isn't a club fixture or the Green Maintenance Team aren't working on the green.
Bagworth Bowls Club are members of the Coalville and District Bowling Association and have participated in the Thursday Triples League for over 30 years and currently play in Division A. Bagworth achieved their highest ever league finish in 2023 (Third) and look to maintain results in the 2024 season. For more details; Coalville and District Bowls League.
Starting from the 2019 season, Bagworth have also joined the Hinckley and District Monday Triples League and after back-to-back-to-back-to-back promotions (2019, 2021, 2022 & 2023) currently play in Division 2. Bagworth won the Hinckley & District Triples League Shield in 2022; beating Countersthorpe C in the final at Hinckley Bowls Club. Bagworth came runners up in the Hinckley & District Triples League Cup in 2023m losing out in the final to Blaby held at Blaby Bowls Club. Bagworth became the inaugural champions of the Super Six Charity Tournament in aid of Age Concern in September 2022 after winning their group and beating Hinckley B in the final at Birstall Bowls Club.
Bagworth Bowls Club are affiliated to Bowls Leicestershire and regularly enter county competitions. During 2021 Bagworth were runners up in the Leicestershire Greenwood Cup competition, losing out to Brush Bowls Club in the final. Bagworth also came runners up in the same competition in 2019 losing to Birstall Bowls Club.
The members are extremely proud of their recent achievements and continue to strive to improve the clubs facilities. In recent years the bowls club have extended the club house, including adding toilet facilities, as well as building two changing rooms external to the main clubhouse. The development has been made possible through gaining funding from Sport England, acquiring a development loan from Bowls England and through continuous hard work and fundraising from its membership.
