Local Info - Planning

The Local Plan sets out how the borough will grow and develop in the years ahead, and the council must review it every five years.

After conducting a consultation in 2024, the plan was placed on hold due to major Government changes in planning, which increased the number of houses that have to be built in NEL to 622 per year. 

The Stage 3 Local Plan review is currently open until 23:59 on Sunday 1st February 2026.
