Local talented Tennis player Hannah Smith has been busy on the tennis courts, culminating in playing at Junior Wimbledon this week, a future goal of Hannah's noted in 2019 when she won the Basingstoke & Deane Junior Sports Woman award.

Although international tournaments were gradually being made available, travel across Europe was restrictive, however the ITF event in Stirling Scotland gave Hannah an opportunity to see how her game had developed during lockdown and compete at the ITF event, reaching both the singles and doubles finals, but narrowly missing out on both titles, but a great return to court.

In the 6 weeks prior to Jumior Wimbledon qualifiers, Hannah competed in 4 Open Womens grass court events, listed below

Open Regional Tour North Oxford - winner

LTA British Tour Womens Open Felistowe knocked out in quarter final by Kylie Bilchev who went onto reach the 3rd round at Junior Wimbledon

LTA British Tour Womens Open North Oxford reaching the semi finals losing against eventual tournament winner Anna Brogan an international player ranked 47 in the UK

LTA British Tour Womens Open Frinton reaching the semi finals losing against eventual winner Danielle Hack

In the lead up to the recent Wimbledon, Hannah competed in the Junior qualifying rounds narrowly missing out on direct selection into the Wimbledon Junior singles battling her way through to the final round with a win over world junior ranked 82 player but succumbed to defeat (4:6, 3:6) by ITF ranked 49 player, Chelsea Fontenel from Switzerland in the final round. But on the back of her recent form and performance in the qualifying rounds Hannah received a wild card entry to compete at SW19 in the Wimbledon Junior Girls Doubles event where she paired up with LTA National Academy player Hephzibah Oluwadadre.

Well done Hannah !
