Who we are ...

William, Duke of Normandy left St Valery sur Somme in 1066 to contest the crown of England. On 14th October 1066, the Normans fought King Harold's army at Senlac Hill. The Normans defeated the Saxons and later built the Abbey in what is now the town of Battle in East Sussex. Battle is now 'twinned' with St Valery sur Somme. 

Battle Twinning Association arranges a programme of events with a French theme throughout the year, as well as visiting each other to stay in our homes, getting to know and understand our respective cultures and enjoying good company.

There are currently over 50 members and new members are most welcome. The annual subscription is £16.00 (individual) or £32.00 (family).
