Report a crime: Only Call 999 in emergency situations like these:

  • there is an immediate danger to life
  • someone is using violence or is threatening to be violent
  • a crime is happening right now, like a house burglary or a theft
  • the suspect is still at the scene

  • If you’ve pre-registered with the emergencySMS service, use our textphone service 18000 or text us on 999.
  • Call 999 BSL to use a British Sign Language interpreter.

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is a group of Cumbria Police officers dedicated to serving your community by focusing on local crime, disorder and quality of life issues.

We work closely with local authorities, partner agencies, community leaders and residents to decide on policing priorities for your neighbourhood through the Local Focus Hubs.

Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch Association represents the members and participants in Neighbourhood Watch in Cumbria. Neighbourhood Watch includes Farm Watch and other Watch Schemes. Cumbria Constabulary, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria, Cumbria County Council, local government bodies and other public and voluntary sector organisations support Neighbourhood Watch in Cumbria.  The role of Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch Association (CNWA) is to represent the members and participants in Neighbourhood Watch throughout the County and provide help and support to achieve its purpose, aims and objectives. In doing so CNWA works in partnership with others in leading, directing, planning and supporting the future development of Neighbourhood Watch in Cumbria.

Farmers & other people living in rural communities can join the Constabulary’s successful Farm Watch scheme, which is a network designed to share crime prevention advice, alert local residents to crimes in their area, & appeal for information to catch criminals.

What is the role of the PFCC?

  • Representing & engaging with all those who live and work in the communities in the force area, including the vulnerable and victims to identify their policing needs;
  • Setting priorities that meet those needs by publishing a Police and Crime plan;
  • Publishing an Annual Report;
  • Securing the maintenance of an efficient and effective police force for the area
  • Setting the police precept and budget
  • Responsibility for holding community safety budgets and commissioning services
  • Appointing the Chief Constable
  • The power to call on the Chief Constable to retire or resign
