Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall runs directly through the Parish. The wall, the largest Roman archaeological feature in Britain, runs a total of 73 miles from Bowness on Solway in the West to Wallsend in the East. Hadrian's Wall Path follows the route of the Wall but in the parish most of the stone above ground has been removed in modern times to build roads, houses and barns.
