Beech Village Hall

About Us

Following an extensive programme of fund-raising in Beech over the past few years and the award in late 2008 of additional funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Beech Village Hall has recently been extended and extensively renovated.

The final touches were put to Phase I of the building project in early 2010 and the new Hall was officially opened on Saturday 6th March 2010 by broadcaster, novelist, journalist, gardener – and former Beech resident – Alan Titchmarsh MBE.

As a result of everyone’s hard work, Beech now boasts probably the best village hall in the area (at least!), including:

  • A stunning, locally-made oak entrance porch
  • Main Hall: a fabulous 12m x 9m space with a flexible portable stage. Projector and large screen, CD/DVD player and full audio system available by special arrangement.
  • Lounge (6m x 6m) with fully-equipped bar and 42” TV; separated from Main Hall by accoustic folding doors
  • Commercial-standard kitchen
  • Male, female & disabled toilets
  • Opens onto the well-kept Village Green
  • Ample car parking

The new Hall already plays host to a wide range of clubs, classes, recitals and talks as well as regular village social events. Over the years these have included visits from a number of artists, entertainers and experts, including:

  • Alan Titchmarsh
  • guitarist Gordon Giltrap
  • folk singer Julie Felix
  • comic singer/songwriter Mervyn Stutter
  • gardening photo-journalist John Negus
