Cotswold District Council (CDC) is changing the way it charges for parking in some of its car parks this year to protect the environment, reduce crime and provide modern payment methods.

The change will impact Rissington Road Car Park, Bourton on the Water from 1 March 2021.

Car park users will be able to use the new and improved payment system, PaybyPhone, which is used across the country and allows people to pay by making a quick phone call or by using the app. They will also be able to use the pay and display machines to take card payments.

When using the PaybyPhone App the location number for Rissington Road Car Park is 804760.

The option to pay by cash will no longer be available. This change will reduce CDC's carbon footprint by stopping the c.20,000 miles driven every year to collect cash. It will also stop the theft and vandalism that has been experienced in its cash payment machines that have cost over £100k in the last 4 years.

CDC will be updating the payment signs so it is clear for users and its website also contains information on each car park and details of setting up a cashless parking account.

Please share this information so that everyone is aware of the change.
