Bourton-on-the-Water Parish Council
- Cllr Jim Cowen (Chair)
- Cllr John Hovard
- Cllr Lynda Hicks (Youth Club Portfolio Holder)
- Cllr Bill Wragge
The Playing Fields Committee is responsible for dealing with youth related issues and for administering all of the play facilities in Bourton. There are currently 3 play areas; at Melville, Rye Close and the Naight. Melville and Rye Crescent have both been updated in recent years.
The Parish Council has renewed its agreement with Play Gloucestershire's Play Rangers to continue to provide weekly play sessions on Melville throughout 2017.
We'd like to remind parents and our younger residents that the Play Ranger sessions are held on Melville play area every Wednesday afternoon, during term-time between 4pm and 6pm. These sessions go ahead regardless of the weather and remain very popular with older and younger children alike. The sessions are fully supervised by experienced Play Rangers and include a wide range of activities, including cooking, games and general play.
Link to Play Rangers web-site for details and information about the service and activities provided.
During the school holidays the Rangers also arrange a number of day-time sessions - please keep an eye out on this web-site for details of holiday session dates, or contact the Council office for further information.
October Half Term
The Council was successful in securing funding from Tesco Bags of Help, Gloucestershire Playing Fields Association and Gloucestershire County Council's Active Together Grant Scheme. In May 2017 these funds were used to purchase and install two football and basketball goal ends in the playing field as well as two new pieces of play equipment in the Under 12s' enclosed play area.
The Council is extremely grateful for the support of the organisations who contributed to the funding of this project to improve the play area.
