Bridgend Farmers' Market
Pant Derwen Apiary
Betty and Mike Pett from Pant Derwen Apiary have been regular attendees at Porthcawl Farmers Market for the last 10 years where their Pure Welsh Honey, Honey Fudge, Honey Marmalade and a range of preserves and chutneys have become increasingly popular.
The honey is sourced from their own bees with hives situated in outlying parts of the Borough and their range of chutneys include Mango; Mediterraneun; Garlic and Plum.
Welsh Honey is renowned for its premium quality and those who have tasted honey from the Pant Derwen Apiary are often repeat customers, delighted with the quality, taste and presentation. Their hives are situated on land which is not intensively farmed and consequently free from chemical sprays. Local honey is renowned for its healthy properties and many hay fever sufferers treat this allergy by using local honey containing many of the pollens which contribute to this problem. Eczema sufferers and those with digestive disorders also find local honey to be helpful in the treatment of their ailments.
Apart from medicinal use honey can be eaten straight from the jar, on cereals and toast or used as a natural sweetner in tea or coffee and don't forget when used in cooking it keeps cakes fresh and moist for longer.
