Brough Farmers' Market Stallholders:
Bowland Outdoor: Bowland Outdoor is a small family business. We have been farming in the Forest of Bowland for over ten years and have extensive experience of providing top quality meat. Our animals are all fed on a wholesome healthy diet and graze the pastures of the Forest of Bowland. We are members of Made In Lancashire, Northwest Fine Foods and Bowland Charter Assured. Awards include Northwest Fine Food's "Producer of the Year","Best Pork" and "Best Overall Sausage" in 2004. One of our most popular products at Brough Market is the pure pork sausuage of which you can usually enjoy a taster of while browsing.
Creative Seafoods: Paul at Creative Seafoods is based in Carnforth and is a regular at a lot of the local markets. His most popular products are the dressed crab along with the "hand dived" King Scallops.
Deer 'n' Dexter: Deer 'n' Dexter is owned and run by Jane Emerson and Peter Stoeken and is based on a 210 acre farm near Penrith on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. We rear and sell two very special red meats - venison from red deer and Dexter beef from the smallest of the native cattle breeds, the Dexter both reared on our farm. All our meat is prepared in the small butchery we have built on our farm in Penrith.
Farm Harvest: You will usually find the lovely Carol or Angela on the stall at Brough. All produce is home-made locally and they are very keen to use local providers and butchers for all their ingredients. Some of their most popular products include the caramel shortbread, the Mars Bar tray bake and of course the delicious fruit pies.
Heartwood Poultry: Heartwood Poultry is based at High Carlingill Farm a small family run hill farm with 3/4 mile of the river Lune passing through (sadly no fishing rights). We have 105 acres of land 6 of which is in the Heartwood. We farm Free Range Chickens, Ducks and Turkeys. Alongside the poultry, we breed Micro Pigs, Rough Fell and Swaledale Sheep and winter Ayrshire Cattle. Some of the products available at the market include chicken breasts, thighs and wings along with some of our lovely gluten free sausages.
Jane Chantler: Jane Chantler is a specialist silversmith with a stunning variety of fine jewellery available. Also available to view are a variety of thimbles, Jane designed and made a limited edition special commemorative thimble to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen. Along with designing to commissions which have included very unusual engagement rings in an array of precious metals and gems including gold, silver, platinum, Jane can also offer a full repair service to customers. Jane also has some lovely watercolour paintings available which she has painted herself of local landscapes and areas of interest - where does she find the time??
Kitridding Farm: Kitridding Farm is a family-run farm situated on the edge of the Cumbria Fells. Our farm is run extensively where animal health and welfare is a priority. We breed, rear and sell our own meat. Alongside fresh cuts of our own beef, lamb and pork, we also create a wide range of home-made sausages and burgers. there is usually a taster of the sausages available while browsing the market. We also the proud winners of the "Cumbria Life Farm Shop of the Year" 2013.
Loopy Lisa's Authentic Handmade Fudge: Loopy Lisa's Authentic Handmade fudge "just like Grannie used to make" is available in a huge array of different tempting flavours. Lisa's recipes are adapted from a traditional Women's Institute template, using all butter, evaporated milk and only real flavours - no artificial flavours or preservatives are used. Flavours available include Vanilla, Treacle, Ginger, Honey, Rum & Raisin, Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fudge to name a few.
Pimlott's Poultry: We grow our own seasonal produce that we pick & weigh by hand and & sell at Farmers' Markets across the North West. William won Tamesides Farmers' Market Trader of the year in 2005 which was an honour. Our veg has been used in television commercials, and our eggs have been used by television chef Simon Rimmer when he cooked a bread and butter pudding on TV when we appeared alongside him on ITVs Grubs Up. Our eggs have won prizes as has our veg at local agricultural shows.
RSPCA Westmorland: Ann Miller is a volunteer for the Westmorland Branch of the RSPCA in Kendal. She sells Greeting Cards which are prints of her own paintings - these are available at the market for a small donation. Ann was recently presented with a silver badge by the society in recognition of many years loyal service to the Society which she is pictured with here.
Sue's Breads: My name is Sue Jackson. I live and work in the beautiful North East of England. I am a Baker of fine breads. I have had a love affair with baking for over forty years. My bread is made in and sold from my home. I also sell at Farmers' Markets and bake breads for one off events. I have my own clay oven in the garden for cooking pizza and create the majority of my bread using local produce. My hope is that every piece I bake will give a sense of fun, generosity, satisfaction and entertainment; ingredients painstakingly added to my bread.
Suzie's Photography: Suzie is a recent addition to the market after moving up to Kirkby Stephen at the end of 2013. Her photography started off as a hobby however the move has allowed her to spend more time on it with the launch of a website in May 2014. Suzie's photographs are mainly of the local landscape and animals and include scenes from Mallerstang, the Eden Valley and the Lake District.
Turk's Head Products: Turk’s Head Products offer a wide range of preserves, jams, chutneys, jellies, marmalades, and seasonal items such as Christmas mincemeat and Christmas puddings, including gluten free and sugar free versions. Everything is home made, in our farmhouse kitchen, cooked on a wood burning range. We use no artificial additives, or sweeteners, and while making use of modern equipment, we use traditional methods to ensure the best possible taste and quality. Many of our preserves are made using locally produces fruit, and we look for hedgerow fruits in season too. Star of the display is often the Spiced Apricot and Orange Chutney, sadly both those fruits are not often found in Cumbria! Nevertheless, it is locally made, and very, very tasty, try it with a good cheddar, mmmmmmmmmm! Turk’s Head House is no more than a mile from the Brough Farmers’ Market, which is our closest outlet, the market is a great opportunity to meet people, and catch up with village life, market Saturday is one to look forward to.
Winter Tarn Organic Farm: Tricia from Winter Tarn Organic Farm has a host of delicious cheeses available at the market Tricia supplies one of the top restaurants in Manchester with her Farmhouse Butter which has been awarded a 3 Star Gold in the Great Taste Awards 2012 and it is a favourite at the market.
