Kettering Borough Council - Broughton – Statement 3 (19th June 2020)

This statement is being sent to you as you have previously contacted the
Council regarding the unauthorised development at A43 Broughton
Travellers/Old Willows Site

Planning Application
A retrospective planning application was submitted to the Council in May 2020
for land at and to the south of the Old Willows Gypsy and Traveller site. This has only been able to be validated on 6th June 2020 (and has now been posted on the Council’s planning portal). A site notice was posted at the site on 16th June
2020 and a consultation period of 21 days commences from this date, therefore, the final date for comments is 7th July 2020. The application reference is KET/2020/0318 and can be accessed through the following link
https://www.kettering.gov.uk/planningApplication/search
The application number should be entered into the application number search
box and when the application is recovered please note you will need to read the
copyright notice at the bottom of the webpage and check the “I Agree” box to
be able to access the application details.

The application proposal is for
‘Change of use of part of application site from unused land to use as an extension
to a residential caravan site and taken together with the existing site would be
for 12 traveller families, each with one caravan/mobile home including laying of
hardstanding and construction of retaining wall’

The existing site has previous planning permissions for 6 static caravan and
then a further 2 static caravans and 2 tourers making a total of 8 pitches.
Therefore the net change in relation to this proposed extension would be 4
additional pitches and static caravans.

Enforcement Action
On-going enforcement investigations continue to be considered. Mounds of
spoil from this development deposited on neighbouring land have been
requested to be removed or deposited back on the application site. Material has
been removed from the adjacent land and any materials placed back on the
application site will be assessed as part of the application Other investigations
into planning breaches are continuing, however, the Council is unable to
comment further at this time.
