NORTHAMPTONSHIRE POLICE, FIRE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER

Public Consultation:
Council Tax Questionnaire 2021/2022

Budget Consultation- have your say
Introduction

Background
Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold has responsibility for setting the budget for Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. Set in the context of the covid 19 pandemic, this year’s budget is likely to be more challenging than ever.

Just 18% of the council tax you pay in Northamptonshire comes to the PFCC to pay for policing and fire services: the rest of the council tax you pay goes to your local authorities. We are now considering the budgets for next year and the level of the council tax precept we will ask you to pay for policing and fire services and we want to hear your views.

Over the past four years, your council tax has been invested to give you more police officers and more firefighters, along with the tools and equipment to help them do their job better.

This year will be challenging, against a background of the pandemic which means there may be a reduction in the income we receive locally. The financial picture is uncertain nationally and locally and the challenge for us is to find ways of sustaining the improvements in your local services that we have made over the last four years.
Why have I been asked to participate?
We want to know your views and have launched this budget survey to ask you about your priorities for policing and the fire service and also about whether you would pay more for those services.
How will my response be used?
Your responses will be taken into account by the PFCC in deciding the level of council tax precept to ask you to pay towards police and fire services in Northamptonshire next year.
How will my data be used?
Any information you give us will be kept in confidence and only used for the purposes of this consultation. No individuals will be identifiable. If you would like to read more about how the data is processed, you can visit Northamptonshire Police Fire and Crime Commissioners and view their Data Privacy Notice by clicking this hyperlink.
Because there are questions relating to your confidence in Northamptonshire Police and the issues you would like prioritising, the OPFCC will share information with them to ensure your feedback is acted on.
