Davis Family “Post Office" Bucklebury

SOME NOTES ABOUT THE DAVIS FAMILY WHO USED TO LIVE IN  “THE OLD POST OFFICE” IN BUCKLEBURY VILLAGE

The known history begins with one Robert Bedding  -  1759-1894 -  (Horse Doctor and Land Measurer) who, with his daughter Martha, originally lived down Hatch Lane.  There is a house there now called “Beddings Gulley”, which we presume occupies the site on which his cottage once stood. In 1844 Martha married Charles Davis (1815-1882) and they all moved to the house in Bucklebury now known as The Old Post Office and where Charles became the first Post Master in the village.
