Parish Council
Serving Calderbridge & Ponsonby
Calderbridge and Ponsonby are two small rural hamlets in the Calder Valley, West Cumbria. The parish combines rich history — from a 12th-century Cistercian Abbey to the industrial development at Sellafield — with a vibrant local community.
About the Council
Ponsonby Parish Council is the lowest tier of local government. Councillors serve voluntarily, representing our community on key issues such as planning, local services, and community projects. The council operates with an annual budget of approximately £5,000, mainly for grass cutting, common land maintenance, and commenting on planning applications.
The Parish Council is currently encouraging a Community Plan to help shape the future of the parish.
Meetings: 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7pm, Village Hall — all residents are welcome.
