Beaudesert Centre

Following the First World War, Beaudesert Hall and its extensive grounds were put up of sale. No sale was achieved and other organisations, including the National Trust, were not able to take on the property. In 1935 many of the treasures were sold off in a demolition sale and The Marquis of Anglesey, in 1937, gifted the parkland to a Charitable Trust—’The King George V Memorial Scouts and Guides Recreational Lands’, more commonly known as ‘The Beaudesert Trust’.

The objectives of the Trust are the provision in commemoration of the reign of King George V, and for the benefit of the public:

  1. to help Scouts, Guides and other young people, especially but not exclusively through leisure time activities, so as to develop their capabilities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society;
  2. to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Beaudesert Parkland;
  3. to preserve the ruins of Beaudesert Hall, including a Walled Garden and other land, of historic and architectural importance.

Beaudesert Outdoor Activity Centre now provides outdoor experiences for young people from all backgrounds, including school parties, as well as scouts and guides. Volunteers run regular history walks but there is no other public access due to safeguarding obligations.
