The Playing Field

Beaudesert Sports Field and Recreation Ground is owned and managed by a charitable trust, set up on the gift of the land by the then Earl of Uxbridge, later the 7th Marquis of Anglesey. The purpose of the gift was 'the provision and maintenance of a recreation ground or playing field for the use of the inhabitants of Gentleshaw and Cannock Wood without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants'.

The playing field, sometimes also known as the cricket field, is now the home of Longdon Cricket Club. There is also a football pitch, basketball court, play equipment for children and exercise equipment for adults, and plenty of space. The field is located adjacent to the Village Hall on Buds Road, and accessed through the Village Hall's carpark or on foot from Chestall Road.

For booking enquiries contact the Field committee.
