Stallholders
Stall applications
We're really delighted that you're interested in applying for a stall at the Midsummer Fair 2026 in Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw and perhaps may also advertise in our show programme. The fair is being held on the grass playing field adjacent to Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw Village Hall, Buds Road, Rugeley WS15 4NB on 20th June 2026. The fair is a charity event and a fundraiser for the Village Hall.
The fair will be open between 11am and 4pm. There will be live music, BBQ, beer and Pimms tent, events to take part in, fun alley side stalls and much, much more.
If you wish to have a stall and/or advertising at the Midsummer Fair 2026, please complete an online application form.
Stalls provide part the colour and appeal of the fair and we want to try to keep them as mixed and varied as possible. For this reason we cannot guarantee all applications will be accepted.
Fees
The standard fee is £20 for a pitch of 4 metres by 4 metres (£15 for residents of Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw), except for stalls offering food and drink to be consumed on the showground where rates are subject to negotiation. Parking is available but we will need to know at the time of booking the length of your vehicle/trailer.
We will confirm/decline your booking as soon as possible and, if confirmed, will provide payment details and ask you to make payment within 14 days.
On the Day
The Midsummer Fair is held out in the open, on the grass playing field. The pitches are marked and numbered, being about 4 metres square. No equipment is provided, so please ensure you bring everything you need with you.
Stallholders may set up from 8.30am onwards. Vehicles may be brought on to the site through the Village Hall car park on Buds Road from 8.30am and must be parked in their allocated space by 10am. Vehicles may not then be moved onto, around, or off the show ground before 4.30pm. Please note that late arrival (after 10am) will mean that you will not be able to park close to your pitch, nor to drive on the show ground even to unload.
We will ask you to find a space for a knitted mouse and a crayon on the front of your stall. All children visiting the show will be provided with a sheet of paper and list of places to spot the knitted mice, marking off the mice seen. There will be a small gift for each child who spots all the mice. The aim is to encourage families to visit all the stalls on the show ground and therefore improve stallholders’ footfall.
Insurance
All applications should be accompanied by a copy of your current Public Liability Insurance. If the cover expires before the date of the Midsummer Fair you will need to provide a copy of the schedule of insurance no later than 31st May 2026 which does show cover for the date of the Midsummer Fair. Failure to do so will result in your pitch being forfeited and there will be no repayment of fees in these circumstances.
- The policy must be for Public Liability not Employers Liability.
- The sum assured must be at least £5 million
- The policy must be valid for the date of the Fair.
You have a responsibility to ensure that your stall and the activities you run are safe. It is important to remember that as a stallholder you will be liable should an incident occur and it can be proved that the incident occurred as a result of your acts or omissions. Producing a competent risk assessment and acting according to it will reduce the chance of people getting hurt and also ensure that you can demonstrate that you have acted responsibly.
To produce a risk assessment you need to consider all the tasks / activities that you will undertake and the hazards involved in each. You should then identify what you need to do to make the activity safe - i.e. to reduce the risk of each activity to a low level.
A hazard is anything which has a potential to cause harm to people.
The risk is the likelihood that the harm from a hazard is realised and the extent of it. In a risk assessment the risk should reflect both the likelihood that harm may occur and its severity.
Tasks /activities and their associated hazards could include some of the following – given as an example.
