At the last meeting a prospective mew member came to see us.
And he has already taken his first steps on the road to film fame.
Having fun exploring his camera and software,
we hope to be able to support him, and it may not be long before he is teaching us a thing or two.
Here are his first ever video  https://youtu.be/jpEoL14yPTY

19 March 2020

In the light of the advice from the Government regarding the Coronavirus and attendance at meetings, particularly for those who are over 70 and / or who are vulnerable, we feel that we should cancel our April and May meetings.
We will review the meetings from June onwards when we have further information.

We hope to continue with our club project "Invicta" through e-mail discussion.

Maybe some of us will fill the time making films at home.

Hopefully it will not be too long until we meet again to share our hobby.

Take care
CFM

Meeting notes for 13/03/20

14 March 2020

Disappointing attendance at yesterdays meeting, Though those who came enjoyed it.
We also had a visit from someone thinking of joining CFM, who seemed keen, we look forward to welcoming him again soon..
The Meeting notes will be along soon

We also heard two bits of disappointing news

1. We received this from our friends at Deal's MOMI

Dear all:
For the protection of our visitors, volunteers and staff, many of whom are over 65, we have decided to close the museum until the current national medical emergency ebbs--hopefully, the summer.
This closure affects all screenings and workshops (including Film Handling and Children's workshops).  Our current series of Ealing screenings will be resumed as soon as we re-open.
We will re-open with our new exhibition in place: "Representation & Remembrance: World War One on Film & in the Media".
We look forward to your visiting again soon.

2.  It seems Kent Film Festival 2020 has also been Cancelled.
CFM hopes to see the festival return next year.

02 October 2019

We have been a bit busy recently

On Monday 30th It was CFM turn to host “3 clubs 3 films” a get together with the Ashford and Maidstone clubs to show each club’s work. (this year any number of films adding to about 30 mins). Unfortunately we did have some problems getting the different formats of films and media to play smoothly on ether the “Mac.” or the Windows laptop. But with help from one of our guests, and much patience from everyone, in the end all the films were shown and all enjoyed the evening,. And in the longer than expected intervals the buffet was much attended.

On Saturday 28th several of us attended the “Kent Film Festival”. CFM entered two films – And they both won awards!.

16 June 2019

It has proved a busy weekend!

At Fridays meeting I gave a talk on “Green screen effects”, (they said they liked it?).

On Saturday we went to Canterbury to film the start of the steam engine “Invicta’s” journey from there to its new home in Whitstable museum, and on Sunday its welcome arrival at its new quarters. Both days called for a 6:30 start!.

We where well looked after by the Museum, and amassed a lot of film. In the coming months we will work all this up into an account of this important event.

The Club made a film of “Invicta’s” return to Canterbury after a restoration in York by the Transport Trust in 1980. A short version of this has been on our “Showreels” page for some time. See “Invicta 150”. In anticipation of the new film we plan, we will soon make an additional Showreel to lnclude the short film and the longer one, and to showcase any future films when they become available.

02 June 2019

The next meeting will include a talk by a member on his experiments with “Green Screen” techniques.

No new CFM films to add this month, but we have added a new pick from the CFM classics.
And a fine film from a guest club found on the internet.
Go to "Film of the Month"

17 May 2019

Notes of meeting of 10th May.  Our scheduled speaker was unable to attend due to ill health,
So a scratch meeting was organised with members showing  their current works in progress. As yet these films are not ready to show here but we will put them on the web as soon as they are finished.
Full notes are now on the "Programme" page

Full notes of the last meeting coming soon.

14 April 2019

Disaster! My PC is on the blink.
Got no Internet
Using an old laptop it is connected to rooter by ethernet cable, but still like dialup!!
Should be able to keep the basics up to date, but there will not be any "showreel" or YouTube updates for a while.

Fridays meeting got off to a bad start but got better and better, turned out to be one of the best. Notes coming in a couple of days.

09 April 2019

We needed to swap the April and May meetings. So the next will now be a members film show. (always fun). And the guest speaker will hopefully be in May.
