Historical Society
Originally conceived in 2019 by a group of Chearsley people interested in local history, Chearsley Village Historical Society (CVHS) is now in its fourth full year of operation.
The aims of the Society are to:
- stimulate interest in and understanding of our local history
- understand the village history in the context of County and National history
- enhance our sense of community, appreciation of and pride in the village
- engage with other local communities and organisations with similar interests
- build historical records of our distant past, our immediate past (living memory) and contemporary activities, recognizing that today will become our past
Our Annual Report to the 2025 Chearsley Annual Village Meeting, available here, provides an overview of last year's activities, and we have a full and interesting programme planned for 2026.
Our Meetings and Activities are open to everyone and we welcome active participation in our Steering Group from anyone who would like to get more involved with what we do.
These pages provide an overview of what we do. There is a small charge for our meetings, just turn up at the door, or take out annual individual or family membership for better value.
If you would like to get further involved and/or share your ideas, please contact us at cvhssg@chearsley.com.
