Your Parish Council has for some time been looking at providing the village with its own Defibrillator.
This increasingly common piece of equipment has the potential to save lives in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

The work is now progressing and some of you may have noticed the yellow and green cabinet that has appeared recently on the wall of The Bell. This will house the equipment - we are just waiting for the electricity supply to be provided.

As soon as it is operational we will let you know. The equipment is being registered with the South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS), is simple to use and full instructions will be included in the cabinet. Additionally, the Parish Council will be arranging for training courses to be available in the village. More information will follow soon.

There is however one area with which we need help.

The unit requires regular low-level maintenance - not much more than a weekly visual check to ensure everything is well plus less frequent checks that the keypad operates, the cabinet is kept clean and the spare parts remain in date.

We are looking for volunteers to undertake this task, and also to be a point of contact for SCAS in the event of questions on the equipment. SCAS have asked for a main and two backup contacts to be provided.

Would you be willing to perform one of those tasks?
No prior experience or knowledge is needed - we can provide the small amount of familiarity/training that you need. The only qualification is a willingness to give a small amount of your time to help maintain this important village facility.
