Better Broadband for Collingham

Many residents in the Parish of Collingham have reported issues with internet speed, particularly during recent months with more and more people working form home. Most properties are served by Fibre to the Cabinet (which refers to the big, green cabinets dotted around the Parish. The broadband then travels along the old copper wires from the cabinet to your property) with very few being served by Fibre to the Property. Fibre to the Property is the most up to date broadband solution available and will be capable of delivering speeds up to 330 mbps.

The Parish Council are working with the County Council and Openreach to investigate the possiblity of Fibre to the Property for all residents who currently do not have access to this, but would like to be able to. This would see the old copper wires replaced with fibre cables, providing a more stable service, without the drop off in speed, we all experience at certain times of the day and in certain weather conditions.

At this time there is no indicative cost of this work, but the more people who are interested, the more likely that that the whole project can be funded by the various grants which are currently available. The only ongoing cost for each resident would be the monthly fee to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) of your choice.

If this opportunity is missed it is uncertain if/when there may be another chance for Fibre to the Property to be installed so widely in the community.
