Collingwood were once again invited to Spittal Bowling Club near Berwick on Tweed on Saturday 21st July – the event has become a yearly thing and as ever much enjoyed by those who went.

The day was organised by those Collingwood stalwarts Michael Wilson and Fabian Scott, who did us proud.

The reception from Spittal was, as ever, extremely warm and friendly with the anticipation of the bowling to come from both sides.

The reputation of Spittal’s green was fully justified, very even and extremely fast, much like Collingwood’s will progress to be.

Whilst the day was a ‘friendly event’ there was competitive bowling going on and interestingly during the refreshment breaks (after each 5 ends) there was a bit of tactical drinking going on.

The prize for the best Collingwood rink went to Michael, Stacey, David (Ramsay) and Paul.

I understand that a - as yet - unknown member has lodged an objection to the result which has triggered a Stewarts Enquiry. The ensuing discussions should be interesting, which after, I suspect the result ‘To Stand’

A fantastic day, enjoyed by all, good bowling, food and drink and great hospitality shown by all at Spittal Bowling Club.

Grateful thanks from all at Collingwood who enjoyed a great day go to Michael and Fabian.
