As many of Collingwood’s members – in teams - continue to bowl indoors during the closed season, it is inevitable that teams will at some time come together in competition. It did happen last evening.

The All Stars met the Up Starts in what would be a match to savor, or not?

One of Collingwood’s renowned all star teams: Michael Watson, John Davies and Martin Hayden supported by Michael Wilson who was in a watching role took on the up-and-coming trio: Mathew Stronge, Rob Pringle and David Pygall

The Up Starts lead was confident of winning the match even though, anyone wishing to take the odds on that event happening could easily have obtained 100/1.

Though The All Stars did eventually win the match by a close margin of 23 -7, it could have gone either way. On many ends, the lesser team were sitting as many as 3 or 4 up on the jack, only to have Michael Watson – their skip – to spoil things by placing his final wood on the jack, all very frustrating for the apposing team.

However, The Upstarts are confident of obtaining a different result if they happen to meet again.

It was a challenging game for the losing side, however at end Mathew Stronge stated “ I haven’t enjoyed a game as much as that in years” A sentiment supported by both of his team members.

Just wait until next time!!!
