A Heatwave level 3 warning has been issued from 00:00 Tuesday 20th July to 09:00 Thursday 22nd July. This means that temperatures are very likely to rise to levels that increase the risk of ill health among vulnerable people.

The Met Office, in conjunction with PHE, is issuing the following heatwave warning for our area:

“Stay out of the sun. Keep your home as cool as possible – shading windows and shutting them during the day may help. Open them when it is cooler at night. Keep drinking fluids. If there’s anybody you know, for example an older person living on their own, who might be at special risk, make sure they know what to do.”

Air pollution: this can become worse during periods of hot weather and affect those with heart and/or lung problems. Information on the latest pollution levels, the air quality forecast and health advice can be found on the UK-AIR website or call 0800 55 66 77
